The Ukrainian National Museum, 2249 W. Superior St., named Zachary Dmyterko to the role of Executive Director in December 2024.
The grandson of Ukrainian refugees who came to the United States after World War II, Dmyterko, 29, grew up in the suburbs but has been a parishioner at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 835 N. Oakley Blvd.
The museum has been a Ukrainian Village anchor since the early 1950s. It’s home to a permanent exhibit that covers hundreds of years of Ukrainian history — with items ranging from Cossack artifacts to an exhibit on Ukrainian veterans of 20th-century wars — and hosts rotating shows from local and international artists.
The museum has long been run by an all-volunteer board of directors, who have seen the museum grow steadily over the past 70 years.
